Everett Glenn Byrd, 88, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 at his home. A native of Batson, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Everett was a M.Sgt in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean war and 3 tours in Vietnam and retired after 21 years and was the recipient of the Bronze Star medal. After serving in the Army, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and retired after 19 years. He enjoyed working in the garden and watching football. A graveside service and interment will be Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze, TX. Everett is survived by his wife; Lorine Byrd of 48 years, daughter; Dorinda Veydt and her husband Chris of Vidor, 2 grandchildren; Elton McClelland and Desiree Faxon, 2 great grandchildren; Abby Faxon and Joshua Tupper, 1 sister; Myrt Hudson and her husband Frank of Vidor, and special friend; Kylee Thompson. Everett is preceded in death by 2 brothers; J.P. Byrd and Jerry Byrd, and 2 sisters; Dona Bryant and Erma Fregia.
