Eddy Gay Middleton, a native of Beaumont and longtime resident of Vidor, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, December 12th, 2024 at the age of 84. Eddy retired after 35 dedicated years as a senior crane operator at Bethlehem Steel.
Eddy was a man of many talents and passions. He loved fishing, squirrel hunting, and spending time outdoors. Known for his skillful hands, he enjoyed tinkering with vehicles, fixing anything he could get his hands on, and working on carpentry projects. In the 1960s, Eddy worked with a hurricane disaster team in Mississippi, rebuilding homes for families affected by the storm—a testament to his generous and selfless spirit.
Eddy had a funny sense of humor and a knack for making people laugh, a trait that endeared him to all who knew him. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, who will deeply miss his warmth, laughter, and wisdom.
Eddy is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bonnie Middleton of Texas City, TX; his children: Rebecca Middleton Johnson and husband Charles of Vidor, TX, Nicole McCollister and husband Mark of Livingston, LA, and Torie Ford and husband Mychal of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren: Jeremiah Johnson, Brittany Johnson Kovac, Beaux Hebert, Niki McCollister Cowart, and Eric McCollister; and seven cherished great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delma Ray Middleton and Lillian Middleton, and his brothers Paul Edgar Middleton, Arthur Lee Middleton, and Danny Ray Middleton.
Eddy's legacy of kindness, laughter, and resilience will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.
