Earl Singletary, 89, of Benton, Ark. died Sunday, June 25 after an extended illness. Services will be Saturday, July 1 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Vidor with visitation Friday evening at Vidor Memorial Funeral home. Earl was born in Call Junction, Tex. and moved to Vidor in the late 1930s.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis and his wife Chicki, of Benton and Mark of Birmingham, Ala. Earl was a wonderful grandfather to eight grandchildren and now 16 great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are: Jon Singletary, his wife Wendi and four children; Nathan Singletary and his wife, Roxanne; Erin Boschetti, her husband Mic and two children; Karin Smith, her husband Todd and two children; Kristin Lauderdale, her husband Tim and one child; Lauryn Smith, her husband Cope and two children, Lindsay Whitworth, her husband Chase and two children; and Taylor Price, her husband Rivers and two children.
The great grandchildren are: Haden Singletary, Harper Singletary, Abbott Singletary, Ainsley Singletary, Hannah Lauderdale, Caroline Smith, Molly Smith, Colton Smith, Carlie Smith, Sutton Whitworth, Maren Whitworth, Mary Rivers Price, Joey Price, Chase Boschetti, Emmalynn Boschetti and Micah Boschetti.
Earl was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Vidor where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years. He retired from E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company in 1985, having worked at the Orange, Tex. chemical plant for 35 years.
