July 26, 1941 — December 6, 2017

Doye Wayne Smith, 76, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 in Beaumont, TX. A native of Ragley, LA he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Doye was a member of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church and a member of the International Longshoreman Association Local 21. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was a wood craftsman and made walking canes. In his younger years he raised gardens and built two houses. Doye was a very giving person, a good husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his children and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his heart. Visitation will be Friday, December 8, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Interment will be at Bivens Cemetery, LA at 2:00 p.m. Doye is survived by his wife of 57 years; Eva Ann Smith of Vidor, 3 sons; Karl W. Smith and his wife Billie Rose of Spurger, TX, John E. Smith and his wife Karen of Hemphill, TX and Gilbert Lee Smith and his wife Patricia of Vidor. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 sisters; Donna Holliman, Dorothy Dempsey and Dollie Courtney. He was preceded in death by his parents; Gilbert Lee and Violet Smith.
