Dorothy Loriane Powell

Dorothy Loraine Powell, 85, of Vidor, TX, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024. A native and lifelong resident of Vidor, Dorothy dedicated her life to caring for others, not just within her own family but for many in the community. A devoted homemaker, she was known for her warmth, kindness, and the way she seemed to raise everyone's children with a gentle hand and a loving heart.

Dorothy is survived by her children, each of whom carries forward her legacy of love and strength: Grant Roosevelt Powell II and his wife Rebecca of Silsbee, TX; Jame Lee Powell and his wife Rhonda of Vidor, TX; Gregory Allen Powell and his wife Kellie of Vidor, TX; Gary Lynn Powell and his wife Melanie of Vidor, TX; and Laura Sue Jackson of Vidor, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Nina Prine of Vidor, TX.

Dorothy was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and who will remember her warmth and wisdom.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grant Roosevelt Powell I, her daughter Norma Fay Smith, her son Timothy Michael Powell, and her sisters Emma Sue Wallace and Mary Ann Robin.

Dorothy Loraine Powell's life was one of quiet strength, endless love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
