Dorothy Landry ,94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and aunt, born March 9, 1914, in Milton, Louisiana, departed this life to be with her heavenly family November 3, 2008. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Willsie J. and Cecile L. (Ayo) Chauvin; her husband of 52 years Guy Landry, and nine brothers and sisters. Dorothy is also preceded by husbands Clyde Cannon and Irwin Cessac.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters Mary Ann Landry Schram and husband Don of Vidor, Texas; and Anita Marie Landry Durham and husband James of Beaumont, Texas; and her sister Mary Louise Dantin of Franklin, Louisiana; former son-in-law Emmette E. Jorden, Sr and extended family of Sagle, Idaho; two step-sons Charles Cessac and wife Ethel Ray of Intercoastal City, Louisiana; and Kurt Cessac and wife Janet of the Fort Worth, Texas area.
She is also survived by grandchildren Dorothy Jorden Crocker and husband Larry of Lumberton, Texas; Carol Jorden Cleveland and husband Bo of Vidor; Emmette E. Jorden, Jr. of Sagle, Idaho and wife Melody; Guy B. Jorden and wife Ana Maria of Woodburn, Oregon; Christopher James Durham and Sarah Ellen Durham both of Houston, Texas; Lonnie Durham of Beaumont; Renee Schram Matthew and husband Glenn of Dallardsville, Texas; Lisa Schram Richardson and husband Bill of Marble Falls, Texas; Bess Ann Schram of Vidor.
Dorothy is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren. She was blessed through her marriage to Mr. Cessac to extend her family by 5 grandchildren and their families. Her life touched many cousins and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and "adopted" families.
A special thanks and recognition of nephew Daniel Guy Mayea and wife Linda for their love and care over the past few years. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the emergency response team, the staff and nurses at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and Southern Care Hospice.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Christian vigil at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Memorial Funeral Home.
