Doris "Meme" Edgar, 90 of Vidor died Sunday, October 15th, 2023 at Focused Care of Orange. Doris was a native of Warren, Texas, She was a longtime resident of Vidor. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor and retired VISD. Doris enjoyed baking and cooking and was an active church member. Doris is survived by her children Deborah Edgar of Beaumont, TX, Phyllis Seals and her husband Donnie of Vidor, TX, 3 grandchildren Cara Sheppard and her husban David, Dana Fletcher and her husband Dan, Travis Seals and his wife Christina and 9 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend deep gratitude and love to those caregivers from Baptist Hospital, Focused Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Care of Orange, Texas, Synergy Home Care, and the medical/spiritual/social staff of Southeast Texas Hospice. The support, love, and care provided not only our loved one, but the family has eased this difficult journey and allowed our mother/grandmother great dignity as she transitioned to her Heavenly Home. Throughout her 90 years, the focus of Doris life was two-fold...faith and family. She lived her faith in service to the church and community. Doris expressed her faith through the roles of teaching in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and ministering to the elderly and shut-ins of her church. She was always eager to participate in many church-sponsored events such as providing entertainment for several youth and adult banquets (often to the embarrassment of her then teenaged daughters). She was quite a prankster and often expressed her love of friends in humor. Doris was always willing to work behind the scenes to use her talents in any possible way, such as food preparation for church or community events. She frequently prepared meals for friends in the church or in her community who were ill or simply in need of encouragement or friendship. She and her husband worked tirelessly to organize and run a food pantry for local hurricane survivors. She was dedicated to volunteer-work at Baptist Hospital for approximately 25 years. Doris was faithful in offering her monthly tithe to her church and often gave more for missions, the church-sponsored woman's shelter, and benevolence needs, etc. As she grew older, Doris found other ways to live her faith through a card ministry, consistently sending cards of encouragement and birthday wishes to friends and family and always cooking extra so she could share with neighbors. Her daily prayer life and devotion time was of great importance, as she prayed daily for friends, family, and country. Anyone who came in contact with Doris immediately recognized her deep and abiding love of family. She was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother / great-grandmother (MeMe) and readily championed all of their accomplishments and dreams. She eagerly looked forward to sleep-overs with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking their "orders" for breakfast as she tucked them in at night... and eating popcorn in bed with those precious little ones was a great joy in her life. Doris Edgar, aka MeMe, fully lived and embraced her faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
