Donald R. Holmes

Donald R. Holmes, 65, a lifelong resident of Vidor, died Sunday, November 1st, 2015 at Methodist St. Catherine Hospital in Katy, TX. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Don enjoyed gardening and going to car shows but he especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan Holmes, daughter, Emily Allen and husband Dereck of Vidor, 2 sons, Derrick Holmes and wife Laura of Beaumont, and Dr. Jason Holmes of Vidor, 6 grandchildren, Taylor, Abby, Carter, Bella and Mattie Holmes, and Ava Allen. Don is also survived by 2 sisters, Wonda Welch and Rhonda Monroe, 3 brothers, Darrell Holmes, Jerry Holmes, and Tracy Holmes along with numerous sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Melba Holmes. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Turning Point Church in Vidor. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Turning Point Church with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
