Don Edward Schram

December 30, 1937 — February 17, 2018

Don Edward Schram was called to Heaven 17 of Feb. 2018 leaving his loving wife, Mary Ann Landry Jorden Amburn. He was born December 30th, 1937 in Ringgold, TX son of Ambert Schram and Maggie Bess Parr. He moved to Port Arthur, TX with his mother and stepfather, Al DeLatte where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He belonged to the Army National Reserve while in Thomas Jefferson High and left as soon as he graduated in 1956 entering active duty at Ft. Bliss basic training, from there to Fort Benning, GA. where he entered Radio Training. He attended Lamar Tech Electrical Training. He retired from Cargill (North Star Steel). Don helped manage MALJAS Ceramic Shop. He and Mary Ann bought a motorhome following their dream visiting every state and Providence in Canada with their poodle Jean-Pierre and parakeet. On another trip to his beloved Nova Scotia they took their poodles, Francoise & Mitzi. After the end of their travels Don wanted to stay busy so he worked for Patriot Security. When he left there, he was fighting kidney failure, and was doing great with coping with an ostomy after winning the battle with bladder cancer. He started with Alzheimer's Disease and doing great until he faced a UTI, which became a battle starting to be too difficult. He then had a virus which ended his wonderful life.
Don was first married to Frances Wallace when they had three daughters, Renee, Lisa and Bess Ann Schram. Second wife was Diana Bolen Chancellor where he acquired 2 stepchildren, Kenneth and Donna Kay who he continued to love, even after the marriage ended. When he married for the last time 36 years ago, they merged into a huge blended family, giving love to all the children becoming the beloved Daddy Don, or Pawpaw Don. They had a daughter of the heart Rochelle Fitzpatrick of Little Elm, TX. At 80 he was preceded in death by all the parents, ex wives, daughters, Bess Ann, Carol "C J" Cleveland, Melody Jorden, Renee Matthews and his poodles, Honey, Jean-Pierre, Mitzi and Francoise. Surviving is sweetheart Mary Ann Schram, Lisa & Bill Richardson of Granite Shoals, TX, Glen Matthews, Dorothy & Larry Crocker, of Lumberton, TX., Emmette Jorden Jr. of Sagle, Idaho, Guy B. Jorden of Bayou Blue, LA., Bo Cleveland of Vidor, Mark Cassidy of Beaumont, Rochelle & Robert Fitzpatrick of Little Elm, TX 29 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, his guard dog, Hydee & 3 cats. His memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Ron Walling at Pathway Ministries on March 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.. Please no flowers, but donations to Pathway, which was the church Carol pastored, would be appreciated.
I want to thank Dr. Howard and his wonderful staff who gave him excellent care for years and selected Heart to Heart Hospice, who were so wonderful and loving to Don and our family. Thanks so much to all their employees who assisted us, especially Amy and Hope, who made Don laugh, Sandra, Tony and Mike Anderson who prayed with Don and myself. Thanks with all my heart. Much love to long time friends which came to help in his final days Mary Shall-Cross & Jack Patterson & Christa McClung.
