Dessia Anetia Merrell, age 76, of Vidor, passed away on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, at Gilbert Assisted Living House in Beaumont. Born in Louisiana, she had been a cherished member of the Vidor community for many years. Anetia was a dedicated member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where she found joy and fulfillment in her faith. As a devoted homemaker, she poured her love and energy into creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her involvement in various community activities reflected her generous spirit and commitment to serving others. She was actively engaged in church affairs, always ready to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Throughout her life, Anetia generously shared her time and talents with the youth of Vidor. She served as a Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts leader, guiding and inspiring countless young minds. Additionally, she took on the role of her son's soccer coach, imparting not only athletic skills but also invaluable life lessons about teamwork and perseverance. One of Anetia's greatest passions was flower gardening, a pastime through which she found solace and beauty in nature's creations. Her green thumb and creative touch brought vibrancy and color to her surroundings, reflecting her own radiant spirit. Anetia is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ronald Merrell of Vidor, TX, who stood by her side through every joy and challenge of their journey together. She also leaves behind her children Ron Merrell and wife Amanda, Rodney Merrell and wife Rona, as well as Michael Merrell, all of Vidor, TX. Her legacy lives on through her ten beloved grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. Anetia will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her infectious laughter, and her boundless love for her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Houston National Cemetery, to be attended by immediate family only.
