Darrel F. Tilton, 80, of Roswell, Georgia died Sunday January 12, 2003 at his residence in Roswell. A native of Ashton, IL, He lived in Vidor from 1951-1965 and again from 2000-2002 he only recently moved to Roswell, Georgia. Darrel was a retired teacher. He received his BA from East Teaxs State Teachers College in 1950, his Associate of Arts from LeToureau Tech in 1958 and completed work on his Master Degree at Texas AM in 1958. He taught at Vidor High School from 1951-1965, University of Texas from 1965-1970 and East Texas State University 1970-1985 when he retired. Darrel served 13 months in the South Pacific in WWII where he received several medals and a Unit Citation. He was Honorably Discharged in 1946. He was preceded in death by his wife: Helen L. Tilton on September 17, 2001. He is survived by his sons: Larry and Jan Tilton of Roswell, GA., Gary and Karen Tilton of Tomball, TX., daughters: Brenda and John Futch of Summerville, SC., Linda and Greg Ray of Blanchard, OK., brothers: Clem Tilton of Rockton, IL., Wayne Tilton of Kenosha, WI., Don Tilton of Houston, TX., 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
