Danny Eugene Hazen

Danny Eugene Hazen passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Baptist Hospital Beaumont, Tx.

Danny was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 17, 1947, to Eugene and Gazel (Baker) Protzman. He graduated from Stanberry R2 in Stanberry, Missouri, and he also attended Central in Saint Joseph, Mo his junior year. He was of the Christian faith.

He served in the Army National Guard in units at Albany, Mo and later in the Saint Joseph unit where he retired after almost 20 years. Danny worked on a surveyor crew for MODOT. He worked for Westab (Mead products) for 21 years. He was a Supervisor for 13 of those years. After that he moved to Gulfport, Mississippi for a few years and lastly to Beaumont, Tx. where he worked for M&D. He sold many things there but his main department was plumbing supplies. He was still at the job the day he died. He only worked part time, he said that he liked to socialize with the customers and to make it better that he got paid for it.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter Theresa Anderson.

Danny is survived by his children Leslie Hazen of Saint Joseph, Mo. and Danny Hazen Jr and Wife Kim, sister Linda Freeman and husband Jim of Kansas City, Mo, and a brother Robert Protzman and wife Rita of Salina, Ks. He had 8 grandchildren Dustin Stiles, Ryan Owens and his wife Jessica, Sireena Hazen, Hunter Anderson, Matthew, Makayla, Jeremy, and Josh Hazen and 2 great-grand children, numerous nieces and nephews.

Danny loved life and had an infectious laugh, and loved all sports but mainly football. He would help anyone that was down and out, sometimes leaving himself short of funds. He had a lot of fun calling himself "THE KING" and many times the kids would get him a crown, usually at Burger King.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, Tx. He will also have a visitation and burial Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home and High Ridge cemetery both in Stanberry, Mo.
