Charles Snuffy Smith, 89, of Mauriceville died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his residence. A native of Quick, WV., he has lived in Mauriceville for 26 years. He was a retired engine foreman with Texas Gulf Sulphur after 32 years of service. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home. Charles was preceded in death by his parents William and Ina Smith, brothers Alfred F. Smith, Clem E. Smith, and Roy E. Smith, sisters Mary M. Clark and Elsie Akers. He is survived by his wife Joyce Smith of Mauriceville, daughters Glenda J. Courmier and husband Randy of Lake Charles, Phyllis K. Lassiter and husband Mike of Colmesneil, brother Shelvie Smith of Charleston, WV., four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
