Vidor

Catalina "Katy" Watkins, 83, of Vidor, passed away on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at Vidor Health and Rehab. A native of El Paso, Texas, she made Vidor her home for many years, where she built a life filled with love for nature and simple joys.

Katy worked at Lindow's Trophy Shop before transitioning to Jiffy Trophy Shop, where she took pride in her work. She was a private person who found peace and happiness in the outdoors. Whether it was watching birds and squirrels or tending to plants, she cherished the quiet beauty of nature. When indoors, she had a few favorite comforts—Pepsi, Twinkies, and episodes of NCIS, which she enjoyed with unwavering enthusiasm.

She is survived by her loving children: Mary Counts Denmon of Converse, LA, Jerome Watkins and wife Andrea of Orangefield, TX, and Dale Watkins of Orangefield, TX.

Katy also leaves behind her sisters: Felice Linder of Vidor, Helen Modro of Ohio, Andrea Parker of Vidor, and Mitchie Schreckengost of Ohio.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Rhonda Bass (husband Kevin), Ricky Counts (wife Michelle), Randi Counts (partner Amanda Oliver), Taylor Kepley (husband Zach), Travis Hannon, Ashley Gott (husband Ryan), Cody Caples (wife Jessica), Jeromey Watkins (wife Taylor), Jerrod Watkins, Matthew Watkins (wife Kayla), and Dale Watkins Jr. (wife Tara).

She was blessed with great-grandchildren: Cory, Krista, Hunter, Emilee, Caytelyn, Madison, Hunter, Riki, Bryson, Jesse, Samuel, Caydence, Colton, Riley, Parker, Kai, Stevie, Dimitrios, Vincenzo, Penelope, and Giovanni. Additionally, her love will live on in her great-great-grandsons: Mason, Layton, and Perseus.

Katy was preceded in death by her parents, father Demetrio Alvarado and mother Petra Hernandez; her sister Juanita Enbodden; her brothers Rosalio Alvarado and Edmundo Alvarado; and her beloved grandchildren Robert Counts, Meagan Watkins, and Viviana Watkins.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to Granny’s provider, Lisa Pratt, for all of the many years and hours you devoted to her.

Katy’s life was one of quiet strength, deep love for her family, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
