Carrol Maxwell, 79, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on April 27, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Vinton, Louisiana to Oscar and Velma Wigley. After graduating from South Park High School in 1953, Carrol attended Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She completed her nursing education in 1955 and spent more than 45 years as a Registered Nurse. She spent the bulk of her career working at the Beaumont Neurological Center. She then ran a successful home health care agency in and around Beaumont. Carrol had a calling to serve and care for others and touched countless lives throughout her career.
Carrol married the love her life, Bobby Joe Maxwell, in 1954. She spent more than 60 years by his side, where they raised two children. Bobby and Carrol made a home for their family that was filled with love and life. She hosted dozens of family gatherings throughout the years. Thanks to Carrol, her family has great memories of loving caring wife,mother and a great friend. Everybody felt at home at Carrol’s house. Carrol also loved to travel and explore the world, taking many exciting vacations with Bobby later in life. She was an accomplished and prolific painter. She enjoyed painting beautiful landscapes and wildlife. She gave those paintings as gifts to her loved ones, paintings that are small treasures and now permanent reminders of Carrol’s time on earth. Carrol loved animals. She loved her own pets as if they were her children. She was a tireless advocate for abused and abandoned dogs and cats. Through her work with Sweetpups Dog Rescue and Sanctuary, Carrol saved the lives of numerous dog. Carrol was a passionate, loving woman a lover of life. Long live the beauty and love that went through her and came down to us all. Carrol is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe Maxwell, her daughter, Kimberly A. Maxwell, her son, Gregory Maxwell; her great grand-children, Kenadie Wood and Kooper Wood; her sisters, Nancy Williamson, Lynda Maxwell and Reba Sensat. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Wood. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
