Carleen B. Hamerly

Carleen Hamerly, 80, of Vidor died Monday, October 13, 2008 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Asheville, NC, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Carleen was an accountant and retired from Weingarten Inc. and Community Bank in Vidor. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Beaumont and a former member of Old Faith Chapel in Vidor. Carleen was a past member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and was the first recipient of the Community Bank Spirit Award. Carleen was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, even to the end. She celebrated her 80th birthday at Harbor Hospice, surrounded by family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her. Her pride in life was her family. She took comfort in the fact that one day she would be dancing with Jesus. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home. Carleen was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Joe Hamerly. She is survived by her daughters Anne Babb and her husband Robert of Vidor, and Barbara Speed and her husband Jim of Beaumont, step-sons Joe Randall Hamerly and his wife Carolyn of Orange, Danny Hamerly and his wife Lisa of Bridge City, sister Susan Bible and her husband Hidey of Katy, grandchildren: Kathryn Lea and her fianc Rick Oliva, Rebecca Gay and her husband Jason , Jonathan Speed and his wife Jamie, David Speed and Alyssa Cormier, Melanie Hamerly, Randy Hamerly, Jessica Burch and her husband Brent, great grandchildren: Kaitlyn Lea, Caleb and Connor Gay, Taylor and Logan Speed, Paytin and Payslee Cormier. Pallbearers will be: Jason Gay, Jonathan Speed, David Speed, Randy Hamerly, Rick Oliva, Joe Randall Hamerly. The family would like to give a special thank you to Harbor Hospice House staff, nurses and Dr. Qamar Arfeen.
