Beulah Carrie Collins

Beulah Collins, 98, of Vidor was born December 5, 1909, in Fields, Louisiana and died Friday January 18, 2008 in Beaumont, at her daughters home. Mrs. Collins, the last remaining survivor, was the eldest of four children born to E.J. and Sue Burleson. She was a long time resident of Vidor, before moving to Beaumont 2 years ago. Beulah was a retired sales associate for Newberryrsquo;s in Beaumont. She was one of the early members of Lakeview Baptist Church and faithfully attended for over 50 years. She served as Sunday school teacher, W. M. U. officer, assistant treasurer, and church custodian. In her later years she enjoyed teaching Sunday school lessons to the residents at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday January 21, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will be held on Sunday January 20, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Porter M. Collins, parents Ernest and Sue Burleson, brothers Helton Happy Burleson and Earl Burleson and sister Thelma Saulsbury. She is survived by her son Ronald E. Collins of Vidor, TX., daughter Pasty M. Porter and her husband Donald of Beaumont, TX., grandchildren Douglas Porter and wife Susan, Gary Porter and wife Charlotte. Cindy Porter, Michael Collins, Cathy Gallup and husband Billy, David Collins, Rhonda Collins, Eugene Collins, and Sabrina Norman and her husband David, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also survived by three nephews and one niece. She was devoted to her family and friends, and will be missed by all who knew her.
