Arthur I. Shafer, Jr., 82, of Vidor died Friday, April 19, 2013 at his residence. A native of North Adams, MA., he has lived in Vidor for 52 years, and was a retired maintenance electrician supervisor with IRI International. Arthur was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor. Arthur served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and was a member of the VFW Post # 8246 in Vidor. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A rosary and memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Vidor. Arthur was preceded in death by his son Shane Michael Shafer, Sr., parents Arthur and Loretta Shafer, Sr., and his sister Patricia Darakjian. Arthur is survived by his wife Uina Shafer of Vidor, daughters Linda Savoie of Vidor, Dawn Fischer of Beaumont, and Cindy Shafer of Vidor, sisters Sally Erheart of South Pasadena, CA., Mabelle Bowlen of Vidor, and Toni Stone of New Smyrna Beach, FL., ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
