Arlen A. Hodges

Arlen A. Hodges, 65, of Vidor died Monday, February 11, 2013 at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born July 19, 1947 in Pine Grove, LA, a longtime resident of Denham Springs, LA, and a resident of Vidor, TX since 2007. He was a member of Sheet Metal Local 21, Baton Rouge, LA, for more than 40 years, having held the position of President for 14 years, until his retirement in 2002. Arlen is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Hodges; daughters and son-in-laws, Susan (Jessy) Shelton of Walker, LA, Arlene (Keith) Bankston of Holden, LA, Leigh (Mark) Root of Vidor, TX, son and daughter-in-law Dale (Amy) Rogers of Vidor, TX, grandchildren Austin Shelton and wife Emily, Matthew Rogers, Tyler Root, Holli, Hope, and Valerie Bankston, Trey and wife Ashley Gore, Travis and Wesley Gore, great grandchildren Tyler, Savannah, Athena and Cayden, sisters and brother-in-laws Sue (Dana) Phillips, Yvonne (Tommy) Thompson, Glenette Bedwell, Katie Cockerham, brother-in-law, Dale Martin, along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elliott and Ouida Hodges; two sisters, Elaine Goynes and Eleanor McBride; six brothers Alton, Silas, Nolan, Woodroe, Sam and Dewitte. Our Family would like to give Thanks to Dr. Shachner and staff at Texas Oncology, the Oncology staff at St. Elizabeth and Altus Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with a gathering of family and friend to begin at 10:00 am.
