Vidor

Anthony Boyd “Pops” Childs, 62, of Vidor, TX, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his residence. Boyd was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, but grew up and lived in Vidor the majority of his life. A dedicated employee, he spent much of his career with Trinity Industries and M & D Supply, where his work ethic and commitment were evident to all who knew him. A true Texan at heart, Boyd had a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed a game. His free time was often spent golfing, shooting pool and playing poker, where his competitive spirit shone brightly. More than anything he enjoyed the people in his life, whether it was hosting a pool party, watching the Cowboys play, or enjoying watching a live band, you can guarantee “Pops” was making sure everyone was having a good time. He was a man that never met a stranger, his love and happiness were as infectious, as he was LOUD. Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Gina Childs of Vidor, TX. He was a devoted father to Bo Childs and his wife, Rebekka; Blake Childs and his wife, Lyndsey; Matt Josephson; and Te’a Willms and her husband, Caleb, all of Vidor, TX. His brother, Alan Berry Childs of Vidor, TX, also survives him. Boyd was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, with another on the way, and was adored by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Betty Childs, and his brother, Bruce Childs. Boyd will be remembered not only for his love of sports and the outdoors but also for his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. His legacy of hard work, loyalty, and joy in life’s simple pleasures will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A celebration of life will be announced at another time.
