Andrew Nolan Verrett Sr., 87, of Vidor, TX died Friday, August 30th, 2019 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX. A native of Freeport, TX he was a longtime resident of the Vidor area. Andrew retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1970 after serving 20 years. He served in both, the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal. Andrew worked in law enforcement for various law enforcement agencies after his military duty and eventually retired as the Chief of Police for Bridge City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and pets. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 2:00p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Orange. Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; Margaret Verrett, 2 daughters; Theresa Goins of Vidor, and Mary Beth Pelaez and her husband Randy of Orange, 2 sons; Thomas Verrett of Orange and Daniel Verrett Sr. of Vidor. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 sister; Marie Gateley and her husband Jason of Orange. Andrew was preceded in death by 1 son; Andrew Nolan Verrett Jr, 1 grandson; Paul Randall Pelaez Jr. and 1 son-in-law; Johnny Goins.
