Alford "Al" Connely Layfield, 89, of Vidor, passed away at his residence. A native of New Orleans, LA, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and a dedicated member of Turning Point Church.
Al honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as part of the U.S. occupation force in Japan. He was passionate about supporting fellow veterans, making it his mission to ensure they had the correct information for their benefits. Additionally, he volunteered at the Christian Care Center, reflecting his deep commitment to helping others.
He loved spending time with and taking care of his family.
Al is survived by his son, Darrell Layfield and wife Nikki of Vidor, TX; his grandchildren, Haley Ridley and Kylie Wall, Heather Allen and husband Kris, Erica Layfield and wife Linka, and Brandy O'Connor; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Layfield, and his son, Larry Layfield.
Al will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His legacy of service, kindness, and dedication will be remembered always.
