Alan Keith Melvin

Alan Melvin, 65, of Vidor, TX died Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 at Oakwood Manor Nursing home. A native of of Freeport, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Alan retired from the City of Vidor after 22 years as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, watching western movies and going to the lake. He also enjoyed attending dog shows and raising and showing his champion German Shepherds. Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Monday, August 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Alan is survived by his loving wife Shirley Melvin, 1 daughter; Amber Groves and her husband Guy of Vidor, 1 son; Bryan Melvin and his wife Amanda of Houston, TX, 5 grandchildren; Guy, Gerik, Geron, Joycie, and Myergrace. He is also survived by 2 sisters; Glynda Morgan of Arlington, TX and Debbie Mayo of Center, TX, and 3 brothers; Larry Melvin, Kevin Hollingsworth, and Randy Hollingsworth, all of Vidor. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; M.L. Melvin and Irma Hollingsworth.
