Robert "Bob" Marvin Mathues, 97, a resident of Vidor, passed away on Monday, January 29th, 2024, at his residence. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, he spent the majority of his life in Vidor. Bob, a retired Mobil Oil Pipe Fitter with over 30 years of service, was known for his skillful steel guitar playing, making a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He shared a special bond with his best friend, Huey "Slue" Buxton. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Bob is survived by his wife, that has been with him for 45 years, Lynn Mathues of Vidor, TX, and his children: Karen Block of Dallas, TX, Stephanie LeBlanc and her husband Joe of Vidor, TX, and Debbie Doyle and her husband Kevin of Louisville, KY, daughter-in-law Loyce Mathues of Vidor, TX. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his previous wife, Gertie Mathues, and son Jerry Mathues. His memory will be cherished by family and friends alike.
