Opal Blanche Lyons

Opal "Jean" Blanche Lyons, 99, of Vidor died Friday, July 7th, 2023, at her residence. Opal was born August 7, 1923 in Beaumont, TX to Chattie and Albert Crane. Opal married Robert Lyons November 14, 1946 and they had four children, Jimmy, Donna, Karen and Sharon.

Opal was a longtime resident of Vidor. She was a faithful Christian and a loving homemaker and mother. Her family meant everything to her. Opal was very active in the VFW and was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Club. She enjoyed extensive travels while Tiger was state commander of the Texas VFW throughout the 80's and 90's. The veteran's causes were near and dear to her heart. She was an avid bingo player and never passed up a chance to go to Delta Downs and try her luck at the slots. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed watching her great grandchildren run and play. There was also a special place in her heart for her loving and supportive cat "T2".

Opal is survived by her children; Jimmy Lyons of Vidor, TX, Donna Schneider and her husband Preston of Tomball, TX, Karen Sampson and husband Stanley of Vidor, Texas, Sharon Grissom and husband Mark of Vidor, Texas, her Brother Larry Crane and wife Janie of Kirbyville, TX, and a Sister-in-law Jewel Bogue of Marshall, TX. Her grandchildren; Brandon (Doug) Sampson, Amy (Michael) Smedra , Patrick (Jennifer) Schneider, Kelci (Dustin) Christensen, Jeremy Williamson, Jason (Candice) Williamson, Joni (Neil) Cotham, Susan (Mike) Coleman as well as 19 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, sisters, husband Robert "Tiger" Lyons and her granddaughter Jenna Leigh Williamson.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. There will be a visitation Friday, July 14, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Antioch Cemetery in Buna, Texas. Lunch will be provided at First Baptist Church fellowship hall in Vidor, following the graveside services.

Opal will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her.
