Melba Carlene Gravenmier, 90, a longtime resident of Vidor died on Saturday, April 18th, 2015 in Beaumont, Texas. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and also was a member of the Vidor chapter of T.O.P.S. Melba was a foster parent for 20 years and liked to spend time out in her garden. She was especially fond of her dogs whom she loved very much. Melba is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay Risinger and husband James of Shelbyville, TX, son, Charles Gravenmier and wife Cynthia of Vidor, 9 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Adams and wife Lorraine of Holden, LA, numerous nieces, nephews, and longtime friends, Karen Jensen and her daughter Rebecca Daniels. Melba was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Thomas Henry Gravenmier, a daughter, Melba Sally Gravenmier, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Melba's name to the Vidor Animal Control located at 155 Watts Street, Vidor, TX 77662.
