John Adelard Rivard 93, of Vidor, Texas left this earthly world peacefully on October 17, 2023. John was born and raised in Tilbury, Ontario, Canada. He left Canada at the age of 18 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, were he served and was honorably discharged in 1952.
After leaving the Navy, he made his career in heavy construction where he met his future wife Judith(Judy). They were married in 1962 and had a daughter and son. In 1972 John’s job transferred him from Michigan to Beaumont, Texas, transferring again in 1976 to Katy, Texas. After spending 40 years in construction they returned to Beaumont.
John loved to stay busy, doing home repairs, and tinkering in his shop. There was never a time when John didn't have a head bleed from banging his head or hitting his thumb with a hammer. John also loved the Catholic Church and being involved in the Knights of Columbus where he served many years.
John is proceeded in death by his wife Judy of 42 years, his parents Joseph and Melina Rivard, brother Sylvio Rivard, and sisters Edna Craggs, Alice Sykes and Rita Trulson. John is survived by daughter Michelle Meriwether(Alan), son Christopher Rivard, grandchildren Jayson Weinman and Chelsie Abercrombie, his sister Leah Fleming, great grandchild Zachary Weinman and his precious poodle “Peanut”.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Mauriceville, Texas @ 10a, Tuesday, October 24, 2023 followed by committal at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Maurice Catholic Church.
