J.R. Wheeler

J.R. Wheeler, 88, of Vidor, died Monday, August 27. He was born April 25, 1930, in Leesville, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Linda Wheeler. He was retired from Gulf States Utilities Co., having worked there following his service in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, John Michael and Robin of Hunt, TX, and Steven Mark and Lanh of Beaumont; brother Carl Wheeler of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. His burial will be officiated by the Reverend Terry Wright of the First Baptist Church, Vidor. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation in the church an hour before the service. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Vidor, or to a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, Chaplain Rollie Burr and Lizete, Charles and Rameka for their gentle care of our loved one.
